Leander tenuicornis (Say, 1818)
Distribution Tropical and Subtropical waters of the world except west coast of the Americas, Grand Banks and mouth of Bay of Fundy to Falkland Islands in west Atlantic.
Colour brwon to orange. Some female with ocellus. Rostrum sexually dimorphic. Habitat Found on Sargassum weed in open sea or submerged vegetation. Found intertidal with algae,intertidal marsh pools, on seagrass beds, coral reefs and on floating sargassum, on muddy, sandy substrates and emergent vegetation.
Is eaten by Coryphaena hippurus Linnaeus 1758 (Common Dolphin Fish).
