Stylochus californicus Hyman, 1953

Stylochidae is a family of Turbellarian Flatworms, contains the 6 genera and 36 accepted species.

The Californian flatworm Stylochus (Stylochus) californicus is elongate oval in shape with conspicuous contractile nuchal tentacles. Thick and through, very large, to 100mm long and 70mm wide, colour tan or brown, heavily marked with dark brown dashes or spots.

Feeds on bivalve molluscs.
