Pleurehdera andromeda is commonly referred to as Galaxy Sidegill Slug. Difficulty in the aquarium: Not suitable for aquarium keeping. Toxicity: Toxic hazard unknown.
From El Tomatal, Baja California, 31 Dec 2009. The large pits in the sponge (Oscarella sp.) represent a night's feeding activity by the slug, and those are the slug's fecal strands on top of the sponge. This slug was about 8 mm long.Only one species of Oscarella has been described from the Pacific coast of North America (O. carmela from the Monterey Peninsula), and it's not known yet if there are additional species. Oscarella is thin and slimy to the touch, owing to its lack of skeletal elements.
