Chicoreus laqueatus (G. B. Sowerby II, 1841)
Chicoreus is a genus of medium- to large-sized predatory sea snails. These are carnivorous marine gastropod molluscs in the family Muricidae, the murexes or rock snails.
Chicoreus laqueatus is a rare murex in the Marshall Islands. All specimens at Kwajalein have been observed on the seaward reef, usually at night iat depths of about 13 to 20m. Like other Chicoreus, Chicoreus laqueatus usually sports what is apparently an orange sponge covering over the shell.
