Info
holotype: Cross Seamount, Hawaiii, 389 m, 10.10.2004, 150 polyps
paratype: Cross Seamount, Hawaiii, 08.10.2004, 409 m, 120 polyps
In vivo, polyps, tentacles, and coenenchyma are brownish-yellow, similar to the Hawaiiian golden coral Kulamanamana haumeaae, but distinct enough in color to be recognized as a species other than the underwater coral,
No information could be obtained on organisms (such as octocorals) that may serve as hosts.
Based on external similarities with Kulamanamana haumeaae and Savalia spp. this species may colonize octocorals.
Etymology: comes from the Greek word for sand: "ammos" and the Greek word for affection: "phileo".
