The photo of this undescribed flatworm on a stone coral was taken from Mayotte. The flatworm is white with a broken intense blue border line, which partially consists of dots. An orange longitudinal line runs in the middle of the dorsum.
Flatworms are carnivorous predators which often prey on ascidians.
Unfortunately there is no more information about this undescribed flatworm and we would be grateful for any supplementary refrences.
Reproduction:
The whirlworm can reproduce both asexually and sexually. This species is hermaphroditic, meaning that it has both male and female reproductive organs. When two whirlworms reproduce, they fight to decide who will be fertilized and who will be the fertilizer. The winner gets to act as the male individual and fertilize the other.
