Info

Males of Acanthaluteres spilomelanurus have a gray-brown body and green back.
A black outlined blue line is clearly visible, extending from the chin to each eye and along the middle of the body.
A second black line runs from the lower jaw to each eye across the dorsal surface of the snout.
A third, irregular yellow stripe, extends from the throat along the underside of the body.

Numerous blue spots can be seen on the caudal peduncle and the upper and lower sides of the body.
The caudal fin is yellow with a black bar near the posterior margin.

Juveniles and females have a pale green to pale brown head and body, usually with a faint brownish stripe from the mouth over each eye to the root of the tail.
There are generally numerous brown spots on the head and body.
The caudal fin is green to yellow, usually with two faint dusky crossbars.
