Cyttopsis rosea lives on continental slopes, including seamounts, ridges and elevations.

The Peterfish-like bony fish feeds mainly on other fish and decapod crustaceans.

The species name is derived from the Latin "roseus" (= rosy, pink) and refers to the color of this species.
