Info

Polyorchis karafutoensis Kishinouye, 1910

Polyorchis karafutoensis is a cnidarian from the family Corynidae. These are a marine-only family of hydrozoans (Hydrozoa) in the phylum Cnidaria. It is a larger family with about 60 species in eleven genera. The medusa has a bell-shaped umbrella. Cnidarian rows are not present.

Polyorchis karafutoensis has a sessile polyp stage and a free-swimming medusa stage.

It feeds on pelagic and benthic small crustaceans and is found preferentially near the coast, especially in bays and harbors.
