Info

Cryptocentrus albidorsus inhabits the sand, mud and large rubble substrates of coral reefs and reef crevices and lives symbiotically in caves with an alpheid crayfish.

This guardian goby is a beautiful white and black animal with spotted yellow fins, the interface between black and white is a star-shaped combination of spots and granule-shaped dots.

The goby is considered rare, but can be found sporadically in specialist stores via Philippine imports.

Synonym: Mars albidorsus Yanagisawa, 1978

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
