Info

Bathynomus paracelensis is another giant deep-sea isopod that was described on the basis of specimens caught in the fishing port of Zhengbin in Keelung, Taiwan, and near the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea.
The specimens of the giant isopod were caught in bottom trawl nets and landed.
After the discovery of Bathynomus jamesi and Bathynomus vaderi, this is the third giant isopod of the genus Bathynomus to be discovered in the South China Sea.

It has a brown coloration and resembles Bathynomus jamesi.

Etymology:
The epithet is an adjective derived from the name of the nearest island to the collection site, the Paracel Islands.
The Japanese name is Seisagusokumushi.
