Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Polycyathus verrilli are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Polycyathus verrilli, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Polycyathus verrilli, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Slat is a very small, solitary, and ahermatypical stony coral that occurs in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific on flat rock platforms and loose tidal rocks.
This large-polyped stony coral is not commonly found in its habitats.
Slat forms loose clusters or small colonies of individual animals that are not connected to each other.

Neither depth data nor water temperatures have been documented in the literature on stony corals, so we wrote to Shaunak Moodi, India, to obtain actual information.

Moody Shaunak from India sent us the following information:

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for reaching out. All my observations of Polycyathus verrilli have been taken in the intertidal during spring low tides (
