Stylaster venustus is a hydrocoral that forms multiple branched clusters that can grow to a height of at least 12 cm to 15 cm.
This hydrocoral thrives in habitats that are washed by currents and waves, so that it can be continuously and sufficiently supplied with plankton.
Stylaster venustus forms calcareous colonies and does not form a stage with free medusae!
This hydrocoral is native to the west coast of the USA and Canada from California to the Gulf of Alaska. It is very common around Race Rocks, British Columbia, see the first photo by Neil McDaniel, whom we warmly thank for his photo.
Color: Pink or purple.
