Amblygobius sphynx occurs on sandy or sparse seagrass substrata of protected reefs. Hovers just above the bottom and takes refuge in a burrow.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!

Husbandry know-how of owners

Hallo ich halte einen dieser sehr aktiven grundeln die ständig im sand nach nahrung suchen!! (ist aktiver wie meine bagger grundeln)!
nachts hält sich dieser fisch sehr oft an der wasseroberfläche auf!
gewöhnt sich sehr schnell in ein neues becken ein!
geht bei mir jedoch noch an kein futter!!
weder trocken noch gefrierfutter!
hoffe das ändert sich bald!
