Info

Actinothoe sphyrodeta (Gosse, 1858)

This picture was taken by Prof. Dr. Peter Wirtz during a dive.
For a long time it was thought that this anemone is only found in the British Isles, but this is now outdated. +
üIt is also found in Spain and Portugal.

We suspect that it cannot cope with the higher temperatures of the tropical home aquarium in the long run, because it has very moderate temperatures in the areas of occurrence. Is not imported specifically. Therefore an animal that is probably mostly reserved for the Mediterranean experts.
It is rarely found below 40 meters on hard substrates.

Reproduction: The anemone reproduces sexually and asexually (cloning).

Predators: The sea snails (Aeolidia papillosa), Spurilla neapolitana (Delle Chiaje, 1823) and the blenny (Parablennius gattorugine).
