Glabraster antarctica (E. A. Smith, 1876)

Glabraster antarctica have 5 short arms.The colour is highly variable and can be white, scarlet, pink, red-purple, reddish orange, dark-orange, bluish-white, purplish-white, bluish-grey, yellowish white and grey (with bright or darker colloration).

Adult species have dorsal spines or
tubercles (not so distinct in some specimens).

This cushion star was found intertidal to 3.200 m on various substrates. Glabraster antarctica feeds on small organisms, diatoms, detritus and is also a scavenger.
