Distribution
Eastern Atlantic: Senegal to Lobito, Angola, including the Canary Islands (Tenerife).

Biology
Occurs in mud, sand, and rock bottom.
Feed on small fishes and crustaceans.

Cephalopholis nigri is a relatively common species, but is not very abundant through its range.
