Info

The sweetlips Plectorhinchus cinctus is called crescent sweetlips in English, whereby "crescent" means "sickle-shaped" or "crescent-shaped" and refers to the striped pattern of juvenile animals.

This sweetlip mainly inhabits inshore, rocky reefs and is occasionally found in shallow coral areas.

Plectorhinchus cinctus is found sporadically in markets throughout the year and has been recorded in the live fish market in Hong Kong.
Efforts have been made in China and Taiwan to cultivate this species for aquaculture, but there is no data on its success.
